The Creek in Dubai Tourist Information Guide

The Creek in Dubai Tourist Information Guide: The Creek is a natural seawater inlet that runs through the centre of Dubai. Visitors can take a water taxi or ‘abra’ to view this historical site, with the old trading port and traditional sailing vessels or ‘dhows’, from the water. Cruising to the Al-Maktoum Bridge, you will pass the historic and modern landmarks of the city.

Creekside Park: The pretty waterfront Creekside Park has much to offer. From botanical gardens to fishing piers, play areas, boat rides, bike hire and a cable-car ride along the shoreline with fantastic views.

Heritage and Diving Village: An interactive look at Dubai’s past, located on the Creek, that explores the history of Dubai’s pearling industry and features exhibitions on craftsmen, settlements , pottery and weaving history, where you can also take part in workshops.

Dhow Wharfage: Located along the Creek, the Dhow Wharfage is still used by small traders who use dhows, long and flat wooden sailing vessels, which have been docking in the free-trade port since it was established in the 1830s to lure merchants away from Persia. You can view the traders at work, loading cargo and take tours of the vessels that are used in the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea. Back to Sightseeing & Culture in Dubai Guide
