Vilamoura Holiday and Travel Guide: For a touch of luxury away from home and for hours upon hours of sunshine, Vilamoura is the ideal destination. It is the biggest private tourism resort in the whole of Europe and one of the most popular in Portugal, given the host of experiences and activities it offers to holidaymakers of all ages. 
There are many attractions in and around Vilamoura with the main hub being the marina. It has an array of bars, restaurants and shops to keep you busy both day and night. Take a peek at the lovely yachts in the 1,000 berth marina... you may even spot a celebrity!

There is also a number of designated walking and cycling trails to follow around Vilamoura...for a gentle stroll try the marina or the stretch between Praia de Falésia and Ohos d’Àgua.
For those interested in the history and heritage of Vilamoura, there is a museum in the centre and a preserved roman site offering an insight into the past of the area. Venture further afield to Loulé Castle if you so wish and be sure to take your camera.
People tend to flock to the Algarve for the beaches; Vilamoura has two stunning beaches, both accessible for wheelchair users and hosting a number of watersports.

As with anywhere in the Algarve, the weather in Vilamoura is great all year round, with moderate winter temperatures and lovely, sunny summer months, it is an ideal destination at any time of year.

Travelling to Vilamoura
Vilamoura is easily accessible, just a 30 minute drive away from Faro International Airport, it is not far until you can relax completely. Book a private transfer, get the bus or hire a car.
Currency and Medical Requirements
The currency in Portugal is the Euro and there are no vaccinations required when travelling here although it is a good idea to check with your GP that all vaccinations are up to date.
