Life’s a beach in Paris

Every summer, Paris creates a seaside atmosphere by transforming several spots along the two-mile stretch of the river with sand, palm trees and deckchairs. Known as the ‘Paris Plage’, the recreated beaches allow people to sunbathe in the sand, swim in pools suspended over the Seine, kayak, or enjoy free evening concerts.

The beach themes are split into two themes;

"Traditional" Beach – Located between Pont Neuf to Pont de Sully, the three traditional Paris Beach locations feature sand and grass beaches, parasols and chaise longues, fountains and mini pools for cooling off. There are even areas designed to host a variety of sports and games and Boardwalk-style cafes and snack bars.

Water Sports and Boating – Located at La Villette, there are a wide range of activities available for keen water sports enthusiasts including Kayaks, pedal boats, sailboats, canoes. These activities are open from 9am and are free of charge and lessons are available by professional coaches.

All the beach sites offer great accessibility to all ages and visitors in wheelchairs or with limited mobility. There are Ramps in place to allow for easy access to the beaches, Water fountains, swimming pools, and some boats at the Villette site.

The Paris-Plage takes place from 20 July until 20 August, from 8:00 a.m. to midnight.
