Spanish resort Costa del Sol is popular amongst British holiday-makers, and apparently its charm extends to the Atlantic, with the wife of US President Barack Obama planning to visit the region’s town of Marbella at the start of August.

The First Lady has reportedly reserved thirty rooms at the exclusive Villa Padierna, a spa and golf resort popular amongst the political elite and royalty. She will also be there on an official capacity, paying a visit to King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain, and has been invited to stay at their summer home in Majorca.

Daughter Sasha will be accompanying her mother, while Barack Obama will stay in the US to attend a fund raising event. Their eldest daughter will be at summer camp and therefore Obama will be celebrating his birthday with his wife absent.

Other celebs to frequent Marbella include Antonio Banderas, Cheryl Cole and Kate Moss.
