Ponza is a small island situated in the Lazio region, about 100 km south of Rome. You get to the island by hydrofoil (1-1 ½ hours) or ferry (2-2 ½ hours, includes cars) from the towns of Anzio (hydrofoil) or Forma and Terracine located further south (about 2 hours drive from Rome). The archipelago includes the islands of Ponza, Gavi, Palmarola, Zanón, Ventotene and Santo Stefano. There lives around. 4,000 people.There are primarily an incredibly beautiful scenery, wonderful beaches and turquoise blue sea In the picturesque seaside town of Ponza is shopping, cafes, restaurants and a beautiful harbor. In summer months, ferries sail to Naples and the port city of Formia. A similar popular holiday island is also Ventotene, with only about 450 inhabitants. The entire island Ventotene is a nature reserve. Some of the Pontine islands are almost uninhabited and with their virginity, the beautiful cliffs and coves, a paradise for nature lovers and sailors, Palmarola for example, in a nature reserve and is inhabited only in summer, and the small islands, Gavi and Zannone accommodate different animal species. The island of Santo Stefano is a former prison island where it s possible to make a trip with boat. Together with Ponza and Ventotene they represent all the beautiful Pontine Islands
