One of Asia’s oldest colonial houses, dating back to 1506, Le Colonial Luxury Resort has been painstakingly restored to all of its glory by Mr John Persenda. Adjacent to St. Francis Church in the Chinese Fishing Net neighbourhood of Fort Cochin, Le Colonial Luxury Resort is steeped in history and prestige. Le Colonial housed the Dutch Governors for century and a half till Ian vas Spall sold it to the British in 1795, who in turn, passed it to J. Thomas, the legendary English trader of tea. The house is resplendent with invaluable colonial-era art, including seventeenth-century Dutch oil paintings, portraits of East India Company men, French cartoons, Daniell watercolours, Cartier-Bresson photographs of Nehru and the Mountbattens providing a silent commentary on the colonial era. Le Colonial has six luxurious bedrooms and two suites that can be rented individually. The rooms are:

• Mahe de la Bourdonnais: luxury double bedroom with King sized bed
• Major Petrie: luxury double bedroom with King sized bed
• Tipu Sultan: luxury double bedroom with King sized bed
• Aide de Camp: luxury twin bedroom with 2 twin beds or one queen sized bed with private terrace
•  J. Thomas: luxury double bedroom with King sized bed and a private terrace.
