Cannes Holidays & Travel Guide: Cannes is one of the major cities in The Cote d’Azur and is centred around an old fishing port. Due to the world renowned film festival being held here annually, Cannes is legendary for attracting the rich and famous. It is an ideal location for sitting back, relaxing and enjoying the sunshine in beautiful surroundings. 
There are a large number beaches in Cannes, these are kept clean and have a number of cafes and bars dotted along them, for refreshments throughout the day. The beaches are very family friendly, and an underwater barrier has been created to prevent large waves from reaching the shore. For those wanting some more isolation, there are a number of private beaches which can be hired on a daily basis.
There are two islands located just off the mainland of Cannes called Île Saint-Honorat and Ille Ste-Marguerite. There are boat trips available that can take you from Cannes to these islands within around 20 minutes. Ille Ste-Marguerite was the location that the ‘Man in the Iron Mask’ was imprisoned within the Islands fortress and a visit to the cell is possible. Île Saint-Honorat is inhabited by monks and is home to a beautiful church. The monks on the island divide their time between prayer and winemaking, so be sure to fit in some tasting sessions.
Shopping in Cannes is also a big attraction as there are many high quality boutiques that sell expensive and chic items, whether it be jewellery, clothing, Rolls Royce’s or maybe something from the many art galleries. Golf is also highly popular, with a number of courses in the area to keep you occupied.
Climate: The beautiful warm climate of Cannes has made this area popular with visitors all year round. The winter months are pleasantly mild, while the summer months, May to September sees hot temperatures, but a lovely cool sea breeze ensures the ideal temperatures for days spent relaxing in the sunshine.
Transport: Cannes is easily accessible and does have its own airport, but this is mainly used for private aircrafts. The closest airport from Cannes is Nice Airport which is around a 30 minute drive. The main airlines to fly to Nice include Easyjet, Ryanair, British Airways, Flybe, Air France, BMI Baby, Jet2 and KLM. By rail, Cannes is linked to the Eurostar from Paris and the SNCF railways offer services all over France. There are also a number of buses and taxis available at reasonable prices. Car hire is possible; however parking can be difficult in the main town centres.
