Saint Rabier is built on a hillside with lovely views over the hilly Dordogne! Saint Rabier is 15 km north west of Terrasson, a magnificent town. 50 km from Périgueux, the Périgord Blanc capital, on the banks of the river Isle. The old medieval town, the Saint-Front cathedral - a UNESCO building since 1998, the streets lined with red tiled houses, the squares with many colourful terraces, are all well worth a visit, as well as the farmers? markets which take place every day between 8am and 1pm or the main market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Périgord gastronomy is famous for its foie gras and duck, truffles and fine wines. Ideal base to visit the numerous châteaux such as Hautefort, Thivier and Montignac; local prehistoric caves, Sarlat and the Dordogne River (canoeing-kayaking).
