Depending on the region you plan on visiting or plan on seeing while in France the choice for holiday accommodation is endless. Provence-Alpes -Cote d'Azur – Holidaymakers visiting Provence will find its’ picturesque countryside filled with countless vineyards, lavender fields, orchards, ancient ruins and enchanting towns; Arles is bordered by two national parks and possesses some very impressive Roman ruins. Avignon with its walled medieval town centre and the Papal Palace. The Cote d'Azur and the French Riviera are famous for its miles of sunny beaches, fine dining, nightlife, and chic resorts. Some of the highlights along the Cote d’Azur include; St. Tropez, a favourite destination for the rich and famous since the 1950s. Nice, particularly holds an impressive number of art collections and galleries and nearby Cannes, hosts the Cannes Film Festival every May, Grasse is home to many perfumeries that offer free tours. The resort town of Antibes has many beautiful beaches and its’ cobbled streets and flower-filled squares makes it the perfect place to unwind and relax. If you are feeling lucky, you can always head over to Monaco and visit the famous Montecarlo Casino or watch the F1 Grand Prix in May.

Aquitaine – Aquitaine covers the vast South West of France with miles of beautiful coastline. Aquitaine boasts many excellent holiday destinations such as Dordogne, Gironde, Landes, Lot-et-Garonne and Pyrenees-Atlantiques. The region is renowned for its Bordeaux wines, the beauty of its’ Basque country and the Landes regional park, it is probably one of the best regions in France for holidaymaker to rent a gite for a wine tasting holiday. Aquitaine has many rivers that are excellent to try a range of water based sports.

Languedoc-Roussillon - Once independent of France, Languedoc, has its’ own local language, langue d’oc, while Roussillon was held by the Spanish until the mid 17th century. The Languedoc-Roussillion region in southern France is made up of the Aude, Gard, Herault, Lozere and Pyrenees-Orientales areas. Visit Montpellier otherwise known as the “Oxford of France”; Carcassonne for the many medieval antiquities; Pont du Gard with its’ spectacular 2000 year old Roman aqueduct; or the mountains of the Pyrenees-Orientales for skiing or outdoor pursuits.

Ile-de-France – Contains the jewel in France’s crown, Paris, the ‘City of Light’, has to be one of the world's most beautiful and romantic cities for holidaymakers to see and visit on a holiday. The city is full of historic landmarks, elegant shops, and superb dining. Highlights of a visit to Paris is a climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower, a visit to see the Mona Lisa at the Louvre, the beauty of Sacre-Coeur, the  sidewalk cafe culture, trips down the Seine, and a visit to Notre Dame Cathedral.

Poitou-Charentes – A mixture of Mediterranean and Atlantic characterises this historic region and offers holidaymakers many lovely holiday destinations. The Marais Poitevin, in the north, is a dream world of emerald coloured river boulevards. it is nicknamed the “Green Venice”. Some of the finest Romanesque churches in France can be seen in this region as it makes up a very important part of the Christian pilgrims' route across Europe to North West Spain. Many holiday Gites and villas have been beautifully converted in the region and are oozing charm and hospitality.

 Activities in France

France is an excellent location for holidaymakers’ seeking an activity holiday. Cycling and France are synonymous due to France being home to the famous Tour de France. France has many world famous Skiing and Snowboarding resorts, from Chamonix to Meribel. Skiing in France will give holidaymakers so many reasons to come back year after year and book the same skiing chalet over and over again. For golfers’, there are many world class Golf courses to keep you going all year round golf in France. There are some many things for couples, Family Holidays or groups to see and do in France activity wise: Walking, White Water Rafting, Wine Tasting, Swimming, Sailing, Tennis, Canyoning, Bird Watching and Art Galleries.

 Weather in France

Spring offers the best weather for holidaymakers: beach temperatures start in to get nice in May, the summer months can be pleasant to very warm, autumns are generally mild and beautiful, and winters are brisk with snow in many parts. The French typically take their annual five weeks' vacation to the coasts and mountains, and the cities tend to shut down accordingly in Mid-July through to the end of August, also in February and March.
