Aljezur Holiday & Travel Guide: Aljezur is probably the most peaceful of destinations in the Algarve and rests just north of Lagos. Aljezur is characterised by the river which runs through the centre of the area, with the old town of Aljezur on one side, and the new town on the other. The area is surrounded by the Costa Vincenta Natural Park and as such, boasts beautiful landscapes and lush green valleys which are ideal for ramblers and cyclists.
Aljezur is perfect for those seeking a more relaxed or peaceful break and is quite different to the busier southern coast. Most holidaymakers come here for some time out or for particular activities. Popular is this area is walking, cycling, climbing and surfing. There are also many historical places of interest in and around the area. Aljezur has some great beaches for those seeking sun, sea and sand...and they are likely to be a lot less crowded than other places in the Algarve! Some of these beaches are part of the nature park and so expect them to be a lot more alluring than the typical, but still lovely, Algarve beaches.
