Munich Holiday & Travel Guide: The capital of Bavaria is a huge city which further seperates into several distinctive districts. Throughout the districts, expect to be involved in some sightseeing, eat in the beautiful restaurants, exercise your muscles in the lifting of a huge beer at a famous beer hall and pursue many, many more activities.
Munich, as with most of Germany is particularly famed for its thriving economy and industrial acheivements and as such has a lot of major businesses' head quarters located in and around the city. Industry aside, no where else in Germany can you witness such a culture, so stereotypical of Germans - or indeed Bavarians as you can in Munich - age-old traditions co-exist with fancy designer shops and classy cars. Do not be surprised to partake in the typical beer drinking and sausage eating still enthusiastically maintained by the locals...and the lederhosen for those feeling daring enough!
Munich is great for those wanting to hunt out a bargain or visit the high end shops for a designer label or too - with shops in the centre and spilling further out, your credit card will be screaming 'ouch'. Great times to visit are during Oktoberfest, a world renowned festival that lasts over 2 weeks - people visit from all over the world to test out Munich's tiles! The Christmas markets will also never disappoint and are perfect for all of the family.
Munich's historic places of interest also make for great days out - its museums hold world-class collections whilst the city's architecture takes you back in time. The 'arty' culture is starting to give Berlin a run for its money.
Travelling around the city couldn't be easier, hop on a bike, take a stroll or use the reliable buses, trains or even a boat!
It is no coincidence that Germans consistently vote Munich as one of the places they would most like to live! It is a perfect destination, being at the foot of the Alps, close to some beautiful scenery and packed full of beer - you can't fault it!
